SAT Foodlab Friday and le Voir

Extra! Extra! In case you didn’t have the chance to stop by my table at Puces Pop, I will be at the SAT “Food Court” @ Foodlab tomorrow! It’s going to be a rad event, with stuff on offer from lots of amazing restaurants and producers, including Nora Gray, La QV, Dinette Nationale, Fou du Cochon, and the Grumman 78 taco truck. Don’t miss it! And please stop by and grab some preserves. The new Strawberry-Meyer Lemon will be in the house… For more info, go here.

AND! There’s an article on canning in this week’s Voir, for which I was interviewed.  Read it here.

Pickling Workshop and CJAD

Yesterday I was invited to CJAD to talking canning with Ric & Suzanne. I have probably been repeating myself quite a bit at this point, but if you want to listen to our conversation, here it is

In other news, next Tuesday, October 4th, Depanneur Le Pick Up will be hosting me for another canning workshop, this time focusing on pickling and savory preserves. The last one was really fun and I am looking forward to this one. The market is still going strong, but I know the end is near, so I’m feeling very particular about getting every last thing into jars right now. The class is very affordable, especially considering you’ll walk away with two jars of pickles. For more information/to register, go here.

As a final note for this grey morning, I turned the last of the strawberries into Strawberry-Meyer Lemon jam yesterday. Hallelujah, a winter of bright sunshine.

Preservation Society’s Big TV Debut

First of all, a BIG thank you to everyone who came by my table this weekend at Puces Pop. It was a great weekend, and I met lots of people interested in preserves. A few of the wonderful women from my Preserving Stone Fruits workshop were tabling as well. My definite favorite pick of the fair, though, was 100% Ferments. Haley makes naturally fermented pickles, which is a kind I don’t do, so it was great to be able to get some of her amazing products. The curtido is my personal favorite. You can check out her website here.

In other news, as Puces Pop was unfolding on Sunday CTV Montreal aired the Preservation Society installment of Sunday Bites. Earlier in the week I met the gracious host, Aphrodite Salas at the Jean-Talon market, then we made crabapple butter and apple chutney together. You can watch the clip here.

I’m all excited for apple and pear season, but they market is still tempting me with strawberries and figs! So confusing…

Puces Pop!!

I will be manning the table selling preserves AND baking featuring my preserves! Come try a homemade pop tart, cream cheese streusel bar or jelly roll. Guaranteed you will not be sorry.

This Saturday and Sunday, September 24th and 25th, 11am-6pm at Eglise St-Michel (105 St-Viateur W.).

For more info, see their website.

Hope to see you there.
